My favorite Sportsman

All of us look up to someone or the other from whom we can get inspiration , whom we can idolise and whom we love for their virtues.
Some people idolise their parents, some look up to their friends , some idolise a famous personality.
The person who I look up to, or whom I call my role model is Rafael Nadal, a tennis player. I remember the first time I ever watched him play,was when I was in the 5th grade. He won the Australian Open finals against Federer and even apologised for the win on centre court, as he saw Federer crying. This got to me and I started idolising from that day.

I love Rafa for many reasons. I've never seen a more passionate person than him, be it for tennis, his family or anything of that sort. He sets the perfect example of how a sportsperson should be, as he knows when to be aggressive, when to be calm and how to behave on and off court. As aggressive as he is on court, in direct proportion, he is a shy, kind - hearted and a very straightforward person off court. His love for tennis is indescribable and his technique of playing is unique. He is a fighter, he has "never say die" attitude and his hunger for success is so strong that even if he is on the verge of losing, it helps him come out of the jaws of defeat to win the match. He won't ever let his opponent feel disappointed for their loss and he takes all his losses sportingly. He will always push himself to his maximum capacity, even if he is injured, and he will never blame his loss on his injury , even if that is the case. His fervour for tennis is inexplicable and it inspires me to give my best and do anything will full enthusiasm. He strongly believes that whether we compete or do something for fun, we must simply enjoy it and give it our best. Quotes by him like "Impossible is nothing, difficult is real" , "I play each point as if my life depends on it" , "Now is not the time for excuses" & " People remember victories, not defeats" among a few, are so motivating and it gets you thinking that if you really work hard toward achieving your goal and if you have the dedication,sincerity and willpower , nothing can stop you from achieving it. He always tries to have a positive attitude toward everything and doesn't let his victories or defeats go to his head. Seeing someone so madly driven by passion is just astounding.For all these reasons, he has gained admiration from people all over the world, including myself. Even though I don't know him personally, I'm sure that if I would get to know him on a personal level, I wouldn't be dubious about my thoughts on him. My love and respect for him is ineffable which is why he is my role model.
